EIA Division takes on projects which require formal Environmental Assessment.
For a typical project this is likely to include:
- Scoping, including initial consultations with regulators, NGOs and other data holders.
- Desk-based study to identify, collect and collate existing information.
- Ecological surveys, ranging from basic walkover to specialist work on higher and lower plants, protected animal species, nationally and locally rare, scarce and endangered species and national and local BAP species and habitats.
- Production of ecological sections for the Environmental Statement: usually presented in the client’s preferred format for easy inclusion in the final document along with supporting maps, tables and appendices.
- Displays and Public Presentations.
- Stakeholder Management and Community Relations.
- Rebuttal of Ecological Objections: following submission of an ES, responses are expected from interested parties. ESL can respond to ecological objectors on behalf of a client and are well practised at explaining the ecological merits of proposals.
- Provision of Expert Witness for Planning Inquiry.
Other services we can offer include:
- Ecological Evaluation of Unitary Plans and Local development Frameworks.
- Drafting of ecological conditions and S106 agreements.
- Provision of information for Appropriate Assessment on ‘Natura 2000’ (European protected) sites, and drafting of such assessments.
- Editing of entire Environmental Statements before submission to a Local Planning Authority.
- Construction, Management and Monitoring of Wildlife Areas, using our own Groundworks Unit
