Anne Goodall

Anne is Managing Director and Principal Ecologist. Anne has over 20 years experience in the ecological sector having previously worked in medical research. She specialises in ornithology and is a licensed ringer and trainer. Responsible for Environmental Impact Assessments at ESL Anne is often called upon to provide Expert Witness at Public Inquiry.

Dave Hughes

Dave Hughes is a Principal Ecologist and Technical Manager. He is responsible for all project managers and projects at ESL. Dave specialises in bat ecology and is currently working on his PhD on the status of barbastelle bats. Dave also manages great crested newt translocations and is an experienced ornithologist.

Brian Hedley

Brian is a Principal Ecologist and Field Team Manager. He is an all round ecologist and has over 20 years experience in the ecological sector. Brian specialises in protected species ecology and is an experienced ornithologist and botanist. Responsible for managing all of the field team at ESL he also manages all aspects of training provision.

Vanessa Tindale

Vanessa is a Senior Ecologist and Systems Manager. Vanessa specialises in amphibian ecology and has managed numerous large scale projects including great crested newt translocations. Vanessa has worked in the ecological sector for 17 years and is responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety at ESL.

Andrew Malkinson

Andrew Malkinson is Finance Director at ESL. He is also an experienced ecologist with particular interest in bird surveys. Andrew has worked in the ecological sector for over 20 years having previously worked in the Civil Service.

Jackie Nicholson

Jackie is a Senior Ecologist with ESL, managing a variety of small and large scale projects. She specialises in reptile ecology and has managed and undertaken numerous reptile translocations nationwide. Jackie has also acted as Ecological Clerk of Works on several large scale civil engineering projects.

John Pover

John is Senior IT/GIS Technician at ESL, a Microsoft Certified Professional with over 19 years experience. As well as being responsible for all aspects of IT, John produces all ESL’s GIS maps.

The Field Team

The Field Team of experienced ecologists are responsible for the majority of fieldwork undertaken by ESL. The team has a wealth of knowledge and capability and a wide array of licences to work with a diverse range of protected species.
